Welcome to my new style blog, College To Corporate Chic.
My name is Amanda Jo, and I was born and raised in Los Angeles,
California, the land of Daisy Dukes, cropped tops, and easy, breezy boho
style. I just finished my first
year of college, and like most overworked and under-caffeinated college
students, I spent the last few months frantically searching for a summer
job. However, once I landed a job,
I found myself in a rut—a style rut, that is.
How does a girl with the wardrobe of a college student (filled
with bro tanks, hoodies, and other college paraphernalia) with the ingrained
styling habits of a stereotypical Californian go from sweatpants, pajamas,
and denim upon loads of denim to some variation of corporate attire?
I hope through this blog to answer that question or any questions
that may arise during the rather bumpy transition from the traditional,
laidback frumpiness that so many of us cling to in college to the wardrobe of a
true professional woman in the workforce.
Women are told to dress for the job they want, not the job they
have. In today’s world, that could
not be truer. As competition for
jobs increases, it is important for a woman to distinguish herself; and while
style does not compensate entirely for the work itself, it never hurts to look
the part!
Happy reading.
